Education
Hayley received her Bachelor of Science with Honours Specialization in Medical Biophysics (Physics Concentration) from The University of Western Ontario in 2009. She completed her final year at the University of British Columbia where she led a research study under the supervision of Bradford Gill (Medical Physicist) at the BC Cancer Center. It was through this research that Hayley developed an interest in sound physics and its application to medicine.
Research Title
Detection of Self Controlled Cerebral Perfusion Using Transcranial Doppler
Current Research
My research goal is to create and optimize the real time analysis of detecting purposeful cerebral lateralization. If successful, users will utilize their control of cerebral lateralization in combination with TCD detection to indicate preference. This research aims to open an avenue to a new brain computer interface that will one day provide non-vocal, special needs children the ability to communicate their preferences between options.
Other Interests
Hayley has a variety of interests and especially loves skiing, painting, and riding. She is an active volunteer and through coaching the Track3 Special Olympic Adult Ski Team at Bowler Mountain she knew she would love to work with the like-minded people in the Prism Lab and was right!
