Posting Videos

linomonta This page describes how to format and post videos for the PRISM Lab Wiki. Using YouTube.com and the VideoDownloader extension for Firefox.

Note: The videos must be in flash video format (“.flv” extension). For best results, please follow the recommended steps. If you need any help, you can e-mail the wiki administrator

  1. You will use the YouTube video broadcasting service to create video files with the appropriate format and parameters for this website.
  2. Go to http://www.youtube.com and create a user account. When you are finished, upload the video you want to post, to your newly created YouTube account.
  3. If everything went well, the file has been created. However, it is still in the YouTube servers. We need to download it so we can post it on the PRISM Lab Wiki.
  4. Open a new window/tab in your internet navigator and go to http://videodownloader.net/.
  5. Fill the form at the top of the page. You will need to copy the link to your video from the YouTube page.
  6. Click on the “Download” button to save your movie to your hard drive!
  7. Finally, on a PRISM Lab Wiki page, add the following line wherever you want your video to appear: Attach:videofilename.flv.
  8. Save your changes and click on the highlighted Attach:videofilename.flv line to upload your video.
  9. You are done! you can now erase your video from your YouTube account if you wish.
